This is the problem with trying to find a “career”– you invest so much, it makes jobs so hard to walk away from.
Remember, though, your sanity is worth more than health benefits. Trust me.

Ah the world of non-profits eh?

Try having a board of directors with the average age between them at 65. Try explaining to them we can’t keep paying the assistant who’s been here for almost 27 years because all she does is read the newspaper, since she can’t work a computer and doesn’t understand when we try to teach her.

Try having uneducated 65 year olds tell you how to do your job “because that’s how it’s always been done” when they’ve hired us specifically because we’re young, university educated and knowledgeable.

Just so ya know, I’m with you on this one! And while I’ve had the opportunity to work in an AMAZING, innovative, forward thinking non-profit, I’ve also seen the other side of them. Just because the words “non-profit” are tacked in front of it, doesn’t mean it’s a “good” organization.

There’s a lady I work with who is ridculously stupid and pawns off her work on other people.

Sometimes I want to turn off all the power in her office, disconnect her phone, lock her in and make her do crossword puzzles all day until it’s time to go home…

because we would ALL be more productive if crossword puzzles were her job.

Unfortunately, I’ve seen that the less work you do, and the more you screw up, the faster you’ll get promoted.
